On Sunday, June 12th 2022, Heather collapsed at their property on the island of Hawaii after struggling with what was believed to be bronchitis for 6 weeks. Her husband Jerald got her to the ER and she was Life Flighted to a Honolulu ICU, two islands away. There they drained fluid from around her heart and put her on oxygen.

In addition to numerous tests, x-rays, etc., she had a couple needle biopsies and then a surgical biopsy that revealed on Thursday, June 23rd, she had Stage 4 angiosarcoma lung and heart cancer. She was moved into the oncology section of the hospital and started chemo that day.

Heather spent her last few months with friends and family, had a beautiful exchange of vows in Hawaii and Black Rock City, and passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones in October 2022.
